GLS STUDENTS PRESENT "MULAN" - On Thursday, May 16 & Friday, May 17, the middle school students of GLS will be performing Mulan. The performances begin at 7 pm in the family life center and are free. All are welcome to attend this fun, family event.

MURDER MYSTERY DINNER THEATER - On May 19th come join the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members in a comedy Whodunnit dinner theater experience.  You do not haveto be a Thrivent member to participate. The cost of the event is $25 per person, which includes dinner, show, and gratuity. Any Thrivent member who brings a guest receives a $5 break on the cost of the member’s ticket.  This fun evening of dining and entertainment will take place at Grace Lutheran Church in La Plata, MD on May19th at 6:00 pm.  Check the poster page on page 7 for more information or contact Gus wolf at 410 - 257-7998 (e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. TOWN HALL/VOTERS MEETING - Our annual voters meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, May 19, after the late service (approximately 12:15 pm). Any confirmed member 18 years of age or older may vote.

YARD SALE - The Ninth annual yard sale to benefit the LMS Compassion Center will be held May 25.  Reservations for spaces to sell your own items will start April 29 in the Church office (301-932-0963, ext. 103) and the cost is $15 per space. If you would rather donate your items to be sold, you can bring these to the church the evening of May 24 between 5 and 7 ph (no clothing) or during the normal Compassion Center hours in May (Thursdays and Saturdays 10am-12pm.  Volunteers are needed to setup in the family life center the evening of the 24th, help during the sale and to move unsold items back to the shed after the sale. GOLF TOURNEY - What better way to kick off the Father’s Day weekend than with Grace Lutheran Church and School’s STEAK AND POTATO TWILIGHT Golf Tournament.  This event will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Swan Point Yacht and Country Club with proceeds to benefit Health Partners.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL JUNE 17-21, 2013 - Mark your calendars!!! Kingdom Rock VBS has been scheduled and we are gearing up for a great week of celebrating Jesus’ love for us. Please prayerfully consider how you might play a part in this exciting and fun filled week.

DRIVERS NEEDED - Drivers are needed to pick up our two members from the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home on Sundays to bring them to our 9:30 AM service and then return them to the home. Please contact Gary or Carol Whitsell at 301 274 0424 if you can help with this.  Attending the weekly service at Grace is the high point of the week for both members.

CAN YOU HELP?  There are many many ways you can help GLC&S from the comfort of your own home.  We collect the following items:

• Box Tops for Education & Campbells Soup labels - These items help us purchase a variety of classroom and PE items.
• Printer cartridges - When we turn in used printer cartridges we are able to earn money towards offce supplies.
• Aluminum cans - We have a volunteer who picks up the cans and takes them to the recycling center which, in turn, gives us money which is then deposited into our operating account. Consider separating out your cans from your other recyclables and drop the cans off at Grace. Our aluminum can drop is located inside our dumpster bin, behind the cardboard recycling bin. FYI...crushed cans earn more than non-crushed cans.

COUNTERS NEEDED - We need one or two additional groups of counters. Counters are responsible for recording Sunday contributions and work in teams of two. We are currently down to four sets and would like to have six so that each group counts once every six weeks. The process usually takes a couple of hours and is done on Sundays after the service. GRACE LUTHERAN SCHOOL NEEDS SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS
GLS needs several individuals willing to serve as substitute teachers. A teaching certificate is preferred. All applicants must be willing to submit to a background check. NURSERY WORKERS NEEDED  
We need individuals to work in the church nursery on Sunday mornings, 9:15 am to 12:15 pm.  This is a paid position and will rotate between those interested.
