I. Lutheran Schools Sunday

A. Celebrate the education of our children

  1. Academically
  2. Spiritually

B. Jesus words remind us that we are to learn from our children.

  1. In John 3:3 Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
  2. In Matthew 11:25, Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children.
  3. In Matthew 18:3 - 4, Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
  4. In Mark 10:15, Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

II. The Four ‘S’s that every adult Christian should learn from their Christian children

A. Today’s sermon is brought to you by the letter ‘S’

B. The Count: there are 4 ‘S’s

  1. The First S is small
  2. The Second S is simple
  3. The Third S is submit
  4. The Fourth S is save

C. In conclusion, ask not only what can your children learn from – ask what you can learn from your children.
