Grace Lutheran School has a new educational program available to its students- instrumental music! Begun on December 1st, the program is a joint effort by GLS and La Plata’s Island Music to start a performing Band/Orchestra ensemble with our students.

TrumpetStudent

Students studying in the program get a lesson on their instrument once a week (on Thursdays) and will start rehearsing as a full group as soon as possible (dates and times to be determined). Public performances are expected and will be put in place once the group is ready. More players are needed on clarinet, sax, trumpet, trombone, viola, and 'cello.

Teachers for the lesson program are: Dr. Roy R. Jenkins (band and orchestra instruments) and Mr. Draper Carter (guitar and bass). Mr. Keith Grasso (proprietor of Island Music and a GLS alumnus) and Ms. Morgan Clancy (Island’s educational director) have also been involved in the planning.

For further information regarding participation in the program, contact Mrs. Jenny Armstrong at the GLS Office.

P. S. As a "start-up" program, the Band/Orchestra group has no pre-existing instruments, music, or equipment. If anyone has any used items lying around that they don’t want, donations of such would be put to good use!
